Little Trabant adventures

Something different in between the rallye action pics. I took a model of a Trabant 601 with me and thought it would be fun to involve it in my photography on random occasions.

Btw: Jan Kopecky is passing by with his brand new Skoda Fabia R5 in the background. Taken on SS23 – Cala Flumini 2.

Spring 2015, take two

Last week spring has finally arrived! Got a hint on Twitter about a spot with medium high cherry trees in Erfurt. Needed to capture the scene and went there in the later afternoon. When we got there, it seemed we were not the only ones who had that idea. Anyway, we found a spot among the others and took a few pictures.

It looked awesome. Just like a small pink forrest. The perfect location to work with the new Pentacon 29 2.8 lens.

The other tool

Mostly I’m running arround with my beloved EOS 400D or in the past months I have used more often the iPhone 4S for the day-to-day stuff. But despite this and the undoubtly advantages of the digital equipment with its instantly available results, I really become a fan of the analogue equipment. The first thing is: I can work with 35 mm frame size without upgrading to a 5D or 6D. And I really like the outcome of this old Praktica L2 which already captured my own childhood in the 80s of the last century. Not perfect from a technical point of view. Perfect to freeze emotions.
A few weeks ago I finished the film I had in this camera since June last year. Too long.

2012 Travel Review

20130102-223936.jpg
Before continuing with more shots from southern California I just would take the opportunity to wrap up my 2012 travel experience. According to my Flightdiary I spend 3.5 days aboard airplanes in 2012. Only 2 flights more than the year before but with 6 longhaul flights and more than 40k miles I have earned the Frequent Traveller status from Lufthansa. I think I will not take any benefit from this as the express lines are unuseful when having a 2.5 hours trip to get to the airport. You have to calculate with extra time so you will always have enough time at the airport. But I really like the package I got from Lufthansa. On the last flights with them I had the feeling that as an Economy passenger you have to be grateful to be allowed to join this flight.
The silver card comes in a clean white box together with personal luggage badges and a stylisch paper clip. Nothing special but I really like the minimalistic and clean look of the package.

Allthough I’m employed directly in California now, I don’t believe to spend a similar amount of time aboard airplanes in 2013.
