These guys have driven these cars in East German Cup races between 1970 and 1989. Now they did it again and it was like time traveling. The race took place at the famous “Schleizer Dreieck” which was the place of birth for this cup as well. As tuning parts for this type of car were not available before 1989 they did everything be themselves. For example tripling the power of the 2-stroke engine from 26hp up to 80hp. Not the fastest racing car I have seen, but the one with the most interesting history and fantastic sound!

MT-77
These guys have driven these cars in the Eastern European Championship “Pokal für Frieden und Freundschaft der Sozialistischen Länder” (cup for peace and friendship of the socialism countries) before 1989. Now they did it again and it was like time traveling. The race took place at the famous “Schleizer Dreieck”. The car in the picture is a MT-77, produced by Melkus in Dresden and powered by a Lada engine.
