Erfurt Christmas Market – the other side

Not sure if you have ever heard of the Erfurt Christmas market. Main reason why it is that popular in this region is the magnificent background, provided by the impressive cathedral and the chuch next to it. Both are located on a hill with the Christmas market at its feet.

If you saw a guy with a tripod standing between all the folks there and trying to capture photos – yeah, it was me. Even the long exposure time did not get the photo rid of people standing in the frame.

Erfurt Christmas Market. (another approach)

I took a similar photo in December 2011 (link). Last time i placed the camera on one of the steps which lead up the the Erfurt cathedral. This time I went there on purpose, carrying a tripod with me. I probably will do that again once we see snow at the christmas market. Anyway a nice outcome of that activity.

Highway sunset

Time to start posting some photos I made in the last couple of months. Phone and hard drive contain pictures I have not posted yet. Always wanted but forgot later to do.

This one was taken on the ride back home from Frankfurt after having been to Sardegna. In my eyes the perfect picture to close such a trip.

Also a good example about how far development of phone cameras and also mobile editing software has gone.

ISS is passing

Another advantage of lake Hohenwarte is relative darkness at night. At least compared to the urban area where I am usually living. The number of visible stars is almost breathtaking. I tried to capture the milky way but it did not work out well. So i focussed on one of the daily ISS passes over central Europe. I think I can live with that.

Vagabond days

“Der See ist doch gemalt
so wie im Märchen steht der Wald
und der Himmel muss ein Fotofilter sein”

This song came to my mind when hitting the smooth and quiet lake in the early morning for a kayak trip in the golden sunlight.

FYI: this is not a selfiestick. Taken with a DSLR, mounted on a monopod. Just to clear things up.
