If I had to describe Greece with only one picture, I would choose this one. The way to handle things, how to solve probems and even the colours are matching.
Things are still running. Like it. Taken at Rhodes Airport.

For me, pics like this never get boring. Summer day sunset beach pic with appropriate drink available. Mythos is aleady well known from various Acropolis Rallye trips in the past year and it always reminds me on Greek summer nights.
In addition to the recent cabin shot of the world’s first supersonic passenger jet, this is the comfy looking seat in the world’s last flown supersonic passenger jet, the Concorde. TU-144 is in early 70s evonomy style, Concorde in 90s business style and it was by far more expensive to get aboard this jet.
If time travel will ever be invented, I would book a flight aboard this plane. This is the timeless late 70s style cabin of the world’s first supersonic passenger airplane, the Tupolev 144. As a boy, grown up in former East Germany, of course I had one of those TU-144 modell contruction kits and it was a need for me to set a foot io this plane one day. As there is one of these jets displayed in Sinsheim/Germany and I was in Heilbronn last weekend, which is just around th ecorner, I had to visit the Museum where it is displayed.
There is nothing much to say. Typical procrastination day.

After finishing Sunday’s Tergu-Osilo stage it was time for some beach fun and washing all the dust off the body. The stage is located on Sardegna’s noth coast, the plane next day would leave from Cagliari, located on the south coast. To save time the other day, I went the half way down on Sunday and ended up on the famous white “rice grain” beaches on Sinis peninsula near Oristano. Nice place! Feels like Baltic Sea. Okay, “rice corn” sand is different to the sand at the Baltic Sea, but the perfect light blue water compensates this. Behind the dunes is nothing but a small and nice restaurant. Nothin else, pure nature. Didn’t expect this at the Mediterranean Sea. Perfect end of a great weekend.

Again we used the days off at Withsun to celebrate another outdoor, wildlife and rallye weekend. When we heard that the famous and beloved Acropolis Rallye of Greece dropped off the WRC calendar in 2014, we looked out for another event to join. Undoubtedly second most famous rallye is Rallye Finland and it is still on our list. But Finland is in August and full of midges. So we decided to give Rally d’Italia Sardegna a try. Similar weather conditions like in Greece. Stages are more narrow but less loose rocks on the surface.
It was a good decision and the weekend went well. Even though it isn’t that comfy as it is in Greece. The stages are in the “Outback” of Sardegna and starting late in the day. So it was tight to get some food after leaving the stages. Also it was impossible to go to the beach at the end of the day. We lived in the Outback all three days and went to the beach afterwards on Sunday. Much harder than in Greece where you have a daily visit to Loutraki for a cold beer and some beach fun at the end of the day. I was curious about the food in the small villages up in the mountains. But it was kind off disappointing. We had pasta which looked liked instant noodles and also pizza magharita because the chief was not in the mood to put some more stuff on it. Only on the last day we had a good Pizza and it was in a larger city. This point definately goes to Greece. In the villages up in the mountains, where no tourist will ever go, are the best taverns with Tzatziki made by Grandma.
Anyway, this is how the days in Sardegna started: Salami, Peccorino, bun and wine. This is Italy!
A Sunday which was worth its name. And I found a place and time for relaxing in the sun, taking some photographs and reading down and shorten my Pocket list while relaxing in the sun. I wonder why I did not find time during this long winter to read more.
As said before, I want to dive deeper into the analogue topic and ordered real black&white film. I’m really curious what the outcome of this will be. So let’s wait for the right opportunity to play around with it.
