Still Remaining

Rather than a good photography this is a document of history. The fence in the picture is that what usually is known as the “Iron Curtain”, which was dividing the world in East and West. 21 years ago I would be dead if I stood on that point where I took the photograph.
This piece is still remaining and should remind. That’s why the trees arround the fence now. They were planted 20 years ago, shortly after the fall of the wall.

The photograph was taken near the village of Ifta in western Thuringia. (view in Google Maps)

btw: I made the photograph to the day 20 years after the first free elections in the former GDR took place.
