The last weekend was one I was waiting for since months. After 2006, 2007 and 2008 this year is the year I would visit the Rallye of Gods, the Acropolis Rallye of Greece again. I’m still speechless. It was great fun and I will post more photos in the next days.
The photo was taken aboard an Airbus A321 enroute to Athens while flying over Albania.

Sunny Sunday
A Sunday which was worth its name. And I found a place and time for relaxing in the sun, taking some photographs and reading down and shorten my Pocket list while relaxing in the sun. I wonder why I did not find time during this long winter to read more.
Just another sunset
Bored of seeing sunset pictures? Anyway – here is another one taken on Usedom Island. Done in between the remains of bunkers used for storing rocket fuel in the early days of rocket science. (see: Heeresversuchsanstalt Peenemuende) Not an honourable reason for the development in those days but at the end this led us to the moon.
Peenestrom Sunset
One thing I had on my list during summer vacation was to get a picture of the sun going down over the backside of the Island. So I grabbed my bike and drove to Peenemünde. Most important thing I have learned at this stage: when biking through all the reed behind the dyke in the evening – keep you mouth closed! (unless you are keen on protein).
Orange
Still at Inspiration Point in Corona del Mar. Getting an impression why it is called Orange County…
Stare
I don’t know what you think how I find the spots where I do photographs like this one. Pure luck! Okay, not at all. In most cases I discover the whole area on Google Earth and use Streetview as well. The picture shown here was done on the second last day of my trip and I had a long to-do-list after leaving the office. So I grabbed summer clothing and camera in the morning, changed it on leaving the office and made a big round trip through Orange County and its malls to spend some money. When done with shopping I tried to get to the coast before sunset. On arrival in Newport Beach I took a random road to the beach and what a luck – I directly ended on a place called “Inspiration Point”. I think I have seen why it is called this way. (Inspiration Point on Google Maps)
Around the Corner
Always hunting for the sun! When arriving somewhere, first thing is turning towards the sun. (as you can see in my previous posts – I’m addicted to back light photos).
Laguna Beach
The Pacific Ocean seen from the top of the Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park near Laguna Beach, CA. I found this spot in Google Earth and decided to visit it right after work. Unfortunately the weather conditions were not perfect and there was this cloud layer on the ocean. Anyway, a nice place to be with a fantastic view over the pacific coast line.
Transit of Venus
Similar to January 2011’s solar eclipse the spectacle had already begun when the sun was risen in our area on June 6th this year. Since I have heard about that, the goal was again to capture the rising sun with Venus in front of it. So I set the alarm clock to 4.45am, had a look outside on a clear sky and went up the hill behind the house. 20 Minutes later the sun climbed over the Ettersberg and Venus was visible as a small black dot. Like a piece of dust on the light orange ball. The photo shows exact this moment.
