Of all the photographs I took during the Rhodes trip, this is my absolute favourite.
Same location as on the previous post.

Did an evening trip to downtown Rhodes as it was the easiest way to have access to a west coast beach. Luckily it was perfect timing and one of the prettiest sunsets I have ever seen in my live. More to come.
Picture of a Temple in strong backlight high above the Mediterranean Sea. The well restored Temple of Athena is part of the Acropolis of Lindos (Rhodes).
Area view of the coast line near the town of Faliraki.
After all the trips to Greece in the past years, one thing was still missing: a picture of a typical Greek style windmill. Ticked this box with this one. Not in the typical rural area where you would expect windmills. This is one of the three windmills located at the port of Rhodes town. More a mixture of Greek style and tourism style. Anyway, I like the outcome of the picture. Not bad for midday sun.
The perfectly clear and still warm Mediterranean Sea meets the isle of Rhodes in the late October sun. So quiet, so peaceful. Only a few people with me at the beach. Lovely.
The setting October sun causes a long shadow of myself. Another warm ans sunny day at the beach ends soon.
Another photo taken in Faliraki in the late afternoon sun.

This photo was taken in downtown Faliraki.
Faliraki shares the fate of other tourist towns. Transformed from a fishing village into a conglomerate of taverns, pubs, night clubs and shops full of junk goods. Almost dead at day and shiny and funky at night times. Surrounded by hotels, full of tourists. It is pretty much the same as what I have seen in Loutraki, which hosted the Acropolis Rallye in the last years. Completely different to the small villages we found in Attika or on the Peleponnes. Anyway – still Greece, still sunny!

I can’t explain why, but this is one thing i like about greece. The dreary atmosphere created by wan light, heat, dryness and abandoned buildings everywhere.
