Pionieer species are growing on layers of ash. Together with the rusty red of iron-rich stones and some sunlight, they create a colourful landscape in an otherwise dark and grey environment.

A once in a lifetime experience. Hopefully not! Stromboli spews lava last night. Seen from a boat, floating at the end of „Sciara del Fuoco“.
I need to come back one day for a hiking tour to the top and have a look into the crater from above. -
