    Wish i was there again.

  • Ash green

Pionieer species are growing on layers of ash. Together with the rusty red of iron-rich stones and some sunlight, they create a colourful landscape in an otherwise dark and grey environment.

  • Isola di Basiluzzo

Look who’s waiting around the corner.
Passing Isola di Basiluzzo on the way to Stromboli.

  • Chiesa di San Nicolò

Back to the Godfather and “Corleone”. “Corleone” isn’t the real Corleone and is called Savoca in reality. The real Corleone wasn’t 50’s enough when filming in 1971.
Chiesa di San Nicolò is the church where Michael Corleone married Apollonia Vitelli.

  • Bar Vitelli

Have you watched the Godfather trilogy? (if not, better do so) This is the place where Michael Corleone meets Signor Vitelli, Appolonias father.
Bar Vitelli is still open. Sitting relaxed in the shade of the surrounding green and eating Granité is a must when being here.

  • Gole dell’Alcantara

Approx. 10.000 years ago, lava from an Etna eruption cooled down rapidly when hitting the water of the Alcantara river. The result are prismatic basalts, violently twisted and broken. Gole dell’Alcantara is an awesome place to spend time while bathing in the cold river.

  • Chiesa di S. Antonia

The bell of „Chiesa di S. Antonia“. St. Anthony’s church is a rock chapell, built into the cliffs of Capo Milazzo.

  • Etna

Walking on the lava flow from 2001‘s Etna eruption. Arisen from the dark crater in the middle.

  • Sciara del Fuoco

A once in a lifetime experience. Hopefully not! Stromboli spews lava last night. Seen from a boat, floating at the end of „Sciara del Fuoco“.
I need to come back one day for a hiking tour to the top and have a look into the crater from above.

  • Endless white beaches

Come to the sea they said, enjoy the endless white beaches they said. Well, a new beach experience to me.

The black beaches of Stromboli Island.
